Kofi Aduonum, the husband of Afua Asantewaa, has addressed the criticism surrounding his consistent presence with his wife at public events, asserting that it is his responsibility to protect her.

In an interview with Emelia Brobbey on the Okukuseku show, Aduonum reacted to the disapproval from some quarters for always following his wife to public gatherings.

He emphasized that as a husband, ensuring his wife's safety is paramount, and accompanying her to events is part of fulfilling that duty.

He explained, "The Bible calls women weaker vessels. People complain about why they see me with her always. As a man, I'm often seen with her, but aiding her is harmless in my view.

"Those who see it as an issue due to their status, that's their concern. A man's role is to guard the woman. That's also why men sleep behind women in bed. This doesn't make me foolish; it's about protection.”

Addressing criticisms from social media users who viewed his constant presence with Asantewaa as unconventional, Aduonum remained firm on his stance, emphasizing that his actions are rooted in his role as a husband.

Asantewaa gained prominence after she attempted to break the Guinness World Record for the longest individual singing marathon in December 2023.

Although the attempt was unsuccessful, her journey attracted attention.
