Anita Erskine has fulfilled a dream she wrote down over a decade ago after serving as the host of the opening and closing ceremonies of the recent African Games in Accra.

In an Instagram post, the celebrated Ghanaian media personality recalled watching the 2012 London Olympics opening ceremony and being inspired by the female announcer.

“Something told me to write a note in my journal. So I did. And it read 'Ladies and Gentlemen. Welcome your Announcer - Anita Erskine!'...I added 'In 10 years, I will use my voice to bring the world together through sport,'" Erskine wrote on March 12.

On March 8, 2024, exactly 12 years after recording that goal, Anita Erskine stood in the newly built Legon Sports Stadium and addressed the crowds attending the 13th African Games opening extravaganza.

"On Friday March 8, 2024, 12 years after I wrote down my ambition and started working hard by molding my voice, practicing my speech, and in fact, readying my entire disposition to fit the task, constantly praying over it, and patiently waiting my turn in readiness, it happened," she said.

Erskine stressed that dreams alone are not enough but constant practice, determination and prayers are key.

"The dream, the passion and the ambition mean NOTHING if they aren't backed by hard work, smart navigation and deep PRAYER,” she noted.

Through diligence and faith, the renowned host has proven that long-term goals can indeed come to fruition.

“When God sees that you're ready, He will ACTIVATE the ambition. This is your year! You're gonna be great! No one can stop you!" Erskine inspiringly declared.
